About Britt
In Arms Coaching is my second baby, after Bella Nysa, who is currently six years old and teaching me more than any other mentor ever has about love, patience, and the ability to heal.Personal Path to Parenting:
I became pregnant with Bella a few days after sending out a plea to the universe to be shown my path in life. At the time, I was teaching incarcerated men and women in the NYC jails.
The first year of parenting Bella was almost unbearable for me. Bella was an extremely sensitive and high-needs baby and had a lot of problems sleeping, which meant that most of the time I was severely sleep-deprived and crazy with stress.
When Bella was 15 months old, Bella's father left. As I feel apart in what became the hardest and most unbearable year of my life, the only thing that I was sure about at that point was that I wanted to be able to structure my life to spend as much time as possible with Bella, while also doing work I loved and getting out from under the pressure of financial ruin and debt to become financially stable and successful.
At the beginning of that winter I also began working with mothers and their babies in a maximum security prison teaching parenting and literacy, as well as mentoring the women and teaching breastfeeding to the pregnant and new mothers. It was wonderful, very challenging, and deeply rewarding work. I went on to offer spiritual work, interpersonal work, and self-help-styled classes and mentoring to the women there.
In the process of working with my own life coach I found a passion for the amazingly powerful transformational power of life coaching. The incredible impact on my own life has been so extraordinary that I was moved by an intense desire to bring the work to other women with the goal of sharing its power to create a space for heart-centered, authentic connection to self, and to nurture and spread my personal belief in living a joyful, meaningful life. I needed to share with women that we don't have to spend our lives putting everyone else's needs first, stretching ourselves to the edge of overwhelm and breakdown, living beyond our needs and in scarcity, and without time for self-care and nurturing.
To this end, I created In Arms Coaching. I hopes it serves you in whatever way you need it to at this moment in your life.
